Expertise: Major accomplishments:
Development of non-human adenoviruses as gene delivery vectors. Intranasal immunization of calves with recombinant bovine adenovirus-3 expressing a bovine herpesvirus-1 antigen partially protected calves from clinical disease and reduced the time of herpesvirus shedding. A member of a team of the Canadian scientists who worked on development of a vaccine for SARS coronavirus. As a result of this work, four different SARS vaccine candidates were tested for their immunogenicity in mice, and two of them were evaluated for ability to protect against live SARS coronavirus challenge in murine and ferret model of infection.
