Biography

Yan joined VIDO-InterVac as a Research Scientist in 2003. Yan completed her Doctoral degree in molecular biology of Influenza virus in Justus Liebig University, Giessen, Germany. Yan is now leading Influenza research project at VIDO. She received a national prestigious salary award- Canadian Institutes of Health Research New Investigator award (2007-2012). Her research expertise includes molecular biology of influenza virus, virus induced signal transduction, viral pathogenesis and vaccine development.

MAJOR ACCOMPLISHMENTS:
Identification of the molecular mechanism by which influenza A virus activates PI3K/Akt pathway

Identification of the molecular mechanism by which PI3K/Akt pathway regulates influenza virus infection.

Development of live attenuated swine influenza viruses and test the immune response and protection efficacy in pigs.
