Biography

Keith obtained his B.Sc (Honours) in Microbiology and Immunology with a minor in Toxicology from the University of Saskatchewan in 2010.   Keith has conducted research in prairie ecology and toxicology related to Richardson's Ground Squirrels in Saskatchewan, and in antimicrobial resistance and pharmacodynamics associated with methicillin-resistant S. aureus under the supervision of Dr. Joseph Blondeau at Royal University Hospital.

Keith has expertise in the fields of molecular genetics and bioinformatics, specifically with molecular cloning, next-generation sequencing, RNA-seq, and chromatin immunoprecipitation.  He also has a special interest in understanding complex microbial communities and their effects on microbial pathogenesis and survival.

Presently Keith is working on his M.Sc. in Microbiology and Immunology under the supervision of Dr. Aaron White, and is investigating genetic regulation and community dynamics of biofilm-producing Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium.
