Communication Development Officer

The Role: The Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization is seeking a qualified individual to join our Communication Team in the role of Communication Development Officer. The position will be responsible for the development and execution of VIDO's communications strategy. This position will report to the Associate Director - Business Development and will work with members of the Senior Management Team. The successful candidate must value teamwork as a means to achieve positive results.

Job Requirements:

  • Develop and implement a strategy for VIDO's communications that will support VIDO's Business plan. This communication strategy will facilitate VIDO's partnerships both within the University as well as externally.
  • Develop and implement an information technology (IT) strategy for VIDO.
  • Responsible for the efficient operations of the VIDO facilities.
  • Ensuring that Senior Management is kept fully up-to-date on all activities carried out by the communication team.
  • Provide supervision over VIDO's Swine and Beef Technical Groups.
  • Manage VIDO's Communication Team.

Qualifications:

  • A university degree in information technology as well as an understanding of communications and an understanding of business administration. Previous experience in a science based organization would be an asset.
  • Excellent strategic thinking and development skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills that allow you to relate easily to a wide variety of individuals.
  • Knowledge of the global human and animal health business environments.

START DATE: October 1, 2005
SALARY RANGE: $50,000 -$60,000
