Post-doctoral position available in Neonatal Immunization Group

A post-doctoral position for up to 3 years is currently available at the Vaccine & Infectious Disease Organization (VIDO) in Saskatoon, Canada in the Neonatal Immunization Group (Dr. Volker Gerdts).

The objectives are to analyze the role of the mucosal chemokines CCL25 and CCL28 and their respective receptors CCR9 and CCR10 in pigs. We have recently described the expression of these molecules in porcine mucosal tissues (see Meurens et al., Vet Immunol Immunopathol 2006) and are interested in their role in lymphocyte migration following local (mucosal) immunization. Using a novel in vivo gut-loop model we will characterize the role of these chemokines in the migration of antigen-specific cells following mucosal vaccination.

The Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization, a research institute at the University of Saskatchewan, Canada, provides excellent opportunities to collaborate with scientists in the fields of bacteriology, virology, immunology and clinical sciences. VIDO employes more than 140 employees and has well-equipped laboratory and animal facilities and offers a stimulating research environment. The successful candidate will be expected to work in a team-based research environment.
