Research Alliance for the Prevention of Infectious Disease (RAPID)
About this Group
RAPID takes an interdisciplinary approach to improving vaccination and conducts research collaborations to develop vaccine formulations, evaluate their effectiveness in high-risk populations and guide policy decisions by gathering knowledge through disease simulation models.
Working groups have been established for:
- Vaccine Development: Hepatitis C and Neonatal Immunity
- Risk Assessment and Modeling: Tuberculosis, Sexually Transmitted Infections, Zoonotic Diseases and West Nile Virus
- Immunization Strategy: developing mathematical models to predict effects of immunizations and other interventions
RAPID Group Members
Members of RAPID are located at the Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization-International Vaccine Centre (VIDO-InterVac) at the University of Saskatoon, the Saskatoon Health Region, and the University of Calgary.
This multidisciplinary research team is headed up by Dr.Andrew Potter at VIDO-InterVac and includes Jo-Anne Dillon, Nathaniel Osgood, Hyun Lim, Joyce Wilson, Philip Griebel, Slvia van den Hurk, George Mutwiri, Volker Gerdts, John Gordon, Hugh Townsend, Allen Ross, Cory Neudorf, Alan Rosenberg, Johnmark Opondo, Tony Schryvers and Suresh Tikoo.
Recent additions to the team include Dr. Vernon Hoeppner, Stuart Skinner, Tony Kusalik and Assaad Al-Azem.
