VIDO scientist receives university teaching excellence award

Apr 1, 2008

VIDO congratulates Dr. Scott Napper, member of VIDO’s Science Management team and Program Manager of Emerging Diseases, on his 2008 Teaching Excellence Award from the University of Saskatchewan Students' Union. It is Dr. Napper's second time receiving this award, with the first in 2000.

The award recognizes professors who provide not only access to knowledge, but also “the tools with which to turn that knowledge into wisdom.”

Teachers are evaluated by various criteria including enthusiasm, organization, and fairness of evaluation. Recipients of the award are assessed as creating an environment where “students feel free to explore, critique, grow, and become leaders.”

Dr. Napper is an associate member of the Department of Biochemistry and conducts research at VIDO in the areas of vaccine development for prion diseases and molecular mechanisms of host-pathogen interactions.
