Vaccine development for bacterial diseases of pigs

Project Team: Volker Gerdts

Over the years, VIDO has developed and tested vaccines against several common bacterial diseases in pigs, including Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, Streptococcus suis, and Bordetella bronchiseptica. This includes the development of disease models and the testing of the immune response to immunization and/or infection. Current research is focused on improving these vaccines through the use of novel adjuvants and more current isolates.
